Navajo Made Juniper berries Bead Yoo’ (Necklace)- Multicolor

These beautiful necklaces are made from beads that are berries from juniper trees, they fall to the ground and insects eat the fruit off of the seed leaving the bead Diné artists use for jewlery making. These beads are used for health, harmony and safety. The juniper tree provides medicine used by the Diné people, every part of the tree is used for something including the berries. We work with Diné artisan Mary Rose Yazzie who creates her pieces with prayer and good medicine, her process is a way for her to heal and calm herself. It is therapeutic for her and is a connection to harmony with all elements. She wants her work to bring balance, it's a gift from her heart to yours.

Mary Rose wishes to share her work honoring the land using natural elements for the person who wears the juniper berries bead yoo’ (necklace). We ask that in wearing it, you carry that same honor from the artist and respect our sharing of knowledge.

Mary Rose Yazzie is from Tsé Biiʼ Ndzisgaii (Monument Valley), her maternal clan is Bit'ahnii and she is born for the Tl’izí Laaní clan.
