"Water Carrier" 

Dimensions 30" x 40"

Pueblo women would carry water in pottery on their heads. The vibrant colors represent Rain in the late summer in the Zuni Mountains. We make it Rain because we pray for rain reflecting our deep connection to nature and the elements.

Mixed Media: Mix of old and new. Modern tools. Spray paint, paint markers and acrylic paint on wrapped canvas.  All the symbols are ancient native symbols. Representing clouds, rain, crosses are Representing the four cardinal directions.

Laguna Pueblo and Shawnee relative Karl Bautista grew up in the Pueblo of Laguna and is the founder/owner of an artist-based studio Rebel Prints in downtown Albuquerque
