Rezbians by Carmen Selam

We are honored to have Carmen Selam’s book Rezbian’s in our 4KINSHIP bookstore!

Growing up on the reservation, Selam lacked access to media that mirrored her experiences as an Indigenous Queer woman. Rezbians, a slice-of-life art comic, delves into the modern lives of two characters navigating young love on the rez. Rezbians is more than just a comic; it’s a celebration of Indigenous culture and love, reflecting personal experiences and self-acceptance. Selam’s goal with Rezbians is to illuminate the everyday realities of Indigenous Queer/Two-Spirit people and their relationships.

This limited edition artist comic book represents the culmination of work created during Risolana’s 2023 Artist-in-Residence Program. The Risolana residency fosters meditations on community, dialogue, and reflection, offering artists hands-on support to learn the art of risograph printing.
